Introducing: Tie Buddies!
*Please note: This review/giveaway is part of the Cool for School Blog Bash.
From the manufacturer:
Tie Buddies will revolutionize when and how children learn to tie their shoes. With Velcro and slip-ons the average age of children learning to tie has increased with some children learning as late as 9 or 10. Tie Buddies offer children ages 3-9 the independence of tying their own shoes while quickly teaching them a method which is based around characters and stories depicted on the Tie Buddies themselves. Tie Buddies first offering includes one design each for boys and girls but rest assured more great characters are to come!
This video was taken less than 15 minutes after ”Little Alicia” tried the Tie Buddies for the first time!
From me:
These.really.work!
My daughter, “Little Alicia”, is 5 years old and has no experience tying shoes. I’m not even sure she has ever even had a pair of sneakers with laces. In fact, we had to go out and buy a pair so that she could ‘test’ the Tie Buddies!
I set up the Tie Buddies on “Little Alicia’s” new shoes and helped her do the first X, wrap, pull move. I handed her the Tie Buddie instructions and told her to look at them and practice the X, wrap, pull move while I took her sister upstairs. When I came back downstairs 2 minutes later, her shoes were tied…seriously.
She went to tie her other shoe, and couldn’t do it. Come to find out, I hadn’t placed the Tie Buddies properly (they’re supposed to be 3.5″ from the shoe eyelet). I adjusted the Tie Buddies and she has tied her shoes 10 or 12 times with no problems!!!!!
I am going to order more. I’m thinking of grabbing a few extra sets and putting them in my gift closet…I love them that much.

The Tie Buddies blend in with these crazy shoes, but they are the little pink trapezoids attached to the laces.

I like the magic wand/fairies. this is a really good idea. Also, my daughter has autism and she sucks at tying shoes. This might be helpful for autistic kids…honestly!
