My kids love these DVDs and they have learned so much from them!
To tell you the truth, when I first saw Getting Ready for Kindergarten I thought, “My kids aren’t going to like this…how am I going to review this?”. I thought that the music was weird (the first song on the video can only be described as slow techno) and the colors seem really bright. BUT, I was wrong – the kids were intrigued…even the babies! The big kids love to follow along with the characters and dance with the music. And I think that this video is great because it covers everything from getting dressed and tying your shoes, to letters and manners, they even show you how to draw a face!
We also received the Addition & Subtraction Rap and the kids love it just as much. Han Solo is 4 and doesn’t really get the concept, but he loves to sing along. Little Alicia is 5 and is just starting to add, so she thinks it is neat when she knows the answers! This video is great because it practices adding and subtrating smaller numbers (sums to 18). And there is a built in pause feature which gives your child some time to figure out the answer before it is revealed.
Rock ‘N Learn has a HUGE selection of materials for preschool, math, social studies, languages, and science! I THINK I read somewhere that they have 25 DVDs and 22 CDs. Each CD comes with a book, and they have three websites where you can download materials that go with their programs, http://www.markothepencil.com, http://www.free-phonics-worksheets.com, and http://www.worksheets-for-math.com.
