From me:

My daughter and I both LOVE this movie – which is rare.  She is 6 and we  have very different taste when it comes to movies and TV shows (as you can imagine).  She likes shows about teeny-boppers and boy bands and I prefer soap operas and reality TV.  That being said, we do not often sit and watch TV together.

I asked to review this DVD because I knew my daughter would love it,  I did not think it was going to interest me at all.  When this movie arrived I wasn’t all that excited to watch it, but my daughter was bouncing off the walls.  Figuring I needed to watch the movie with her so that I could write a proper review, I put it in the DVD player and grabbed my laptop (I could watch the movie and catch up on FB at the same time, right?).  I.was.wrong. The movie caught my attention almost immediately – it was not long before the computer was off and I was caught up in the storyline.

You see, I have a degree in US history and the Colonial times were my very favorite thing to study and teach.  I loved watching this movie because of the costumes and sets and getting that sense of what it may have been like to live back then (total dork, I know, but true!).  My daughter on the other hand is American Girl doll obsessed, she has two and wants about 5 more.  And now, thanks to this movie…she wants a horse!

So, in the end we both enjoyed this movie - it has a great storyline, awesome costumes, a bit of history and a horse!

If you know a little girl who is into American Girl dolls, horses, or history – she will love this movie too!
